Youth

The Youth Program is an EU program that supports international exchanges of young people. Its aim is to encourage youngsters to take part in designing the Europe  and in strengthening of the European awareness among all Europeans, and especially among the youth. During the exchanges young people learn about new environments, cultures and diversity and this is also their main aim. Youth Program particularly encourages youth meetings on the areas that are geographically, economically or socially underdeveloped.

The program includes different actions. Kozjanski park takes part in Action 1: Youth for Europe – youth exchanges. The program helps us to establish connections to partners from other countries. In frame of Action 1: Youth for Europe – Partner Networks we took a group on an exchange to Germany (Thüringen) in 2001, 2002 and 2005. The topics of youth exchanges are environment, cultural heritage, European awareness, rural development and so forth.

We prepared a project Euro Youth Exchange 2003, supported by Slovenian national agency Mladina Movit that coordinates the Youth Program in Slovenia. In July 2003 we organised a meeting of young people from four European countries. The youngsters and their mentors discussed topics like cultural heritage and the significance of its protection, EU and its expansion and local identity in the new Europe.
